Es ist ja nicht so, dass Australien keine berühmten und auch weltweit erfolgreichen Künstler hervorgebracht hätte. Man denke nur an die Bee Gees, AC/DC und Kylie Minogue. Doch wer hat Down Under schon auf dem Schirm, wenn es um HipHop geht? Vermutlich niemand. Wer jedoch glaubt, es würde dort keine weit verbreitete und aktive Szene geben, der irrt. Das Flaggschiff australischer Rapmusik stellen zweifelsohne die Hilltop Hoods dar. Bereits seit 1993 aktiv, schafften DJ Next, Pressure und Suffa allerdings erst zehn Jahre später mit ihrem Album "The Calling" den nationalen Durchbruch.
