Man sollte ruhig von Zeit zu Zeit darauf hinweisen: Die 80er-Jahre waren musikalisch gesehen weit besser als ihr Ruf. Um das zu belegen, reicht schon ein Verweis auf die fabelhaften Go-Betweens, auf die feinnervigen Prefab Sprout oder die olympischen Talk Talk. Und natürlich reicht die bloße Nennung der Smiths. Eine gescheitere, rückhaltlosere und tröstlichere Band hat die vorvergangene Dekade nicht hervorgebracht. Und auch davor und danach wird man nur schwer fündig werden.
