Im Jahr 1946 als Juke Box Records gegründet dann später durch den Besitzer Art Rupe in Specialty Records umbenannt hat eine bewegte Geschichte vorzuweisen. Besonders interessant ist der Mut des Labelchefs in Hinblick auf die Musik. So konnte auf Specialty die damals schnellste und verrückteste RB Musik veröffentlicht werden bei denen andere Labels die Veröffentlichung schlicht gescheut hätten. Die vorliegende Box enthält zahlreiche der engagierten Musiker und gibt einen guten Überblick über die Variantenvielfalt der Musiker. Hier sind alle großen Künstler vertreten von PERCY MAYFIELD über SAM COOKE bis hin zu keinem geringeren als LITTLE RICHARD. Aus diesem Grund enthält das über hundert Titel starke Werk auch Musik aus so unterschiedlichen Kategorien wie Gospel- Blues- Doo-Wop- und sogar Rock-and-Roll-Musik. ~ Lasse Gerlach aufklappen »
